Buyers – you’ve bought your ticket and ready to board the ‘Big Dipper’ ride of buying a home. No, I am not here to put you off, just prepare you for the ride. So seat belt on and keep your hands inside ….
Step 1 – INCLINE UP THE ROLLER COASTER -.. save, save, save … and save again. Get those penniestogether ready to put your deposit down. Credit not great ?? We have a further INCLINE UP (but boy does it feel good when you get there)
Step 2 – HOVER AROUND THE TOP – find your agent. It will be fun speaking and interviewing a few to find the right fit
Step 3 – FREEFALL DOWN THE ROLLER COASTER – Go out house hunting, you find your Dream home and have decided where the Christmas tree is going (or at least that is what I do)
Step 4 – INCLINE UP THE ROLLER COASTER – Wait, wait a little more … the more you want the property, the longer the wait (or that is how it seems) to see it its accepted.
Step 5 – DOWN WE GO … whheee its accepted
Step 6 – SLIGHT INCLINE UP THE ROLLER COASTER – Inspection time. Expect a few things .. note to rider … your roller coaster could inflict a few head jerks causing anxiety damage
Step 7 – back and forth, back and forth with negotiations (SLIGHT BUMPS). Inspection agreed …WHEEE DOWN WE GO
Step 8 – UP WE GO AGAIN – will we get the loan and will it appraise? (SOME MAJOR THRILLS THROWN IN THIS PART OF THE ROLLER COASTER RIDE).
Step 9 – DOWN WE GO … APPROVED …. CLOSE, tears of joy at the closing table and we all do high 5’s and hug and love each other. Like child birth, we look back and the pain disappears (mother’s will get that one!)
Step 10 – SMILE FOR THE CAMERA EVERYONE.. we want a momento.
A good agent should eliminate a lot of the huge stomach lurchers. I am definately a ‘feet firmly on the ground’ kind of girl! (ask my children as I am the one that waits ‘holding the bags’ while they go on the rides)
And for those kamikaze junkies out there, we might do it again in a few years!
